A brief history. North Sumatra has held 2 World Rally Championships (WRC), precisely in the area of Aek Nauli near Lake Toba. WRC in 1996 & 1997 was a milestone for rally sports in Indonesia. Several participants from abroad such as Carloz Sainz, Tommi Makinen, Colin McRae, and many more participated in this championship. The winner at the 1996 & 1997 WRC in Indonesia was Carloz Sainz. The latest international championship is the 2022 APRC Round 4, which is a rally championship for the Asia Pacific region. It was held in TOBA PULP plantation area. For 2023, we have been approved by the FIA ​​to organize 2 APRC championships. This is done as a stepping stone to get one round of the world championship (WRC) in 2025. Hopefully this will be achieved.
